Equine Reiki in Dorset

Equine Reiki

What is Equine Reiki in Dorset?

Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing . It is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive therapy that is performed without pressure or manipulation. Practitioners connect with the universal healing energy and channel it through their hands to restore positive energy flow into the animal’s body, correcting imbalances. This healing system is safe and will never harm an animal. If a horse has experienced abuse or neglect, for example, Reiki can help to release emotional wounds. It is extremely useful in conjunction with traditional therapies and veterinary care. It can help horses recover faster, saving owners anxiety and cost. It can also be useful in treating travel stress and digestive problems, as well as settling mares who are new mothers and can also be beneficial as a horse approaches the end of its life, providing comfort to a beloved animal and its owners too. It is growing in popularity as a healing tool as it can benefit horses on all levels, physically, emotionally and mentally.

What to expect in a treatment

Reiki is “offered” to the horse without forcing the treatment and without expectations of the way the session will unfold. Horses are very sensitive and wise to energetic frequencies and will immediately understand the nature of the healing being offered. Commonly, the horse will come forward and put his nose into my hands as soon as the treatment begins. He will then choose to take Reiki in the way he needs most often moving to reposition the area of treatment.
Normally, a Reiki treatment will consist of a combination of hands-on and hands-off, depending on the comfort and preference of the horse. In rare cases, your horse may choose not to receive a treatment on a particular day; if that happens we can try again another time. You will see that your horse is open to the treatment by the signs of rest and relaxation: licking and chewing, frequent yawning and deep sighs, and/or falling asleep. The average Reiki treatment lasts from 30 to 60 minutes, and ends when the horse decides to move away from the energy.

Can I ride my horse immediately after Reiki?

Like humans, it is advised to let your horse rest after their Reiki treatment as their body will be responding and rebalancing energies.  Often horses are sleepy after Reiki so it is best to make sure they have water and food available and let them have time to take on board the positive energy and to rest.

How long is the treatment and how much does it cost?

A treatment can last 30-60 minutes and a course of 2-6 sessions would be recommended. I charge £45 per hour (1 hour minimum charge) plus 40p per mile travel expenses outside a 10 mile radius of Blandford, Dorset.

What people are saying….

Anna said “I had the pleasure to meet Vikki last week and already have watched her work on two very different horses with incredible results. Her warmth and passion reflect through her work, which when combined with her innate intuition for horses, enables her to connect with horses not many are able to capture. I highly recommend Vikki and will look forward to working with her on a regular basis”

Jenna said “Vikki has visited my horse twice now, 2 weeks apart.
My horse is naturally a happy chap but I was interested to see if reiki could help him with a tense back from a previous pelvis injury, which although sorted by a chiropractor, was still showing signs of muscle stiffness and weakness on his right side. Sure enough he seemed to want Vikki’s hand on his back and hindquarters for most of the first treatment and relaxed so much, he fell asleep. Following the first treatment, he has been so much more relaxed and free with his movement enabling me to work him more effectively to build up his strength and balance.

He had his second treatment yesterday with a great dressage lesson afterwards.

To witness the interaction between Vikki and the horse and see your horse visibly relax, with positive results in ridden work and a more relaxed look in the field is wonderful.

Very highly recommended!!!”

Chloe said “Speaking on behalf of my horse, Affy, he loves every minute of his sessions. He moves himself to where he wants treating and visibly leans into the touch. He fells much freer and more relaxed as a result”

Emma said “I Can not thank Vikki enough for giving her time up to come and visit Tommy. Tommy has not had the best start in his life and knowing how Reiki helped me in my recovery I wanted to give Tommy the pleasure of this treatment. Tommy gets anxious with new situations and Vikki put him at ease and totally embraced the treatment and was relaxed with it all. Thank you Vikki for your kindness and compassion”
